Let's Get Started
Website Design Process
Below is the step-by-step of the Website design process from start to end.
Please carefully read through this to get an idea of what to expect and what information to provide to me. You can then submit the form below to kick the process off.
Have more questions? Please get in touch with me.
If you want to set up a .com.au domain you will need to have a registered business name. That is of course if it isn't taken.
If you think that www.yourbusinessname.com.au is too long then you can use an abbreviation of that name like www.ybn.com.au.
You can check your domain name availability and purchase it yourself or just get us to do it for you.
Please complete this form with as much detail as possible. If I need more information I'll give you a call to discuss options.
After I have a good indication of what you require, I'll send you an official quote.
When you want to get started simply pay the deposit as stated on the quote. This is usually ⅓ of the quoted amount.
Now we kick it into gear and start building your site framework using software and apps deemed as integral to the running of a modern site and specifically yours.
The following is generally required to get started on your website:
- You will need to supply menu/page titles & page information.
- You will need to supply any digital artwork, images, logo or any other media for pages.
- If you have a colour scheme you can provide that too, or we can work with you to match your colours to your logo.
- The message/branding you need to convey.
- Target market.
- What are your expectations?
- What subjects, in order of priority, do you want to cover on the website?
- What is unique about your business, products and services
- A list of keywords & phrases that best suit your business or product (no more than 10).
- It is also good to supply a site/product/business description in less than 50 words for meta tag information for search engines.
It's important to know this is the biggest roadblock when creating a website, if things are going to slow up it will be at this point.
Now that I have all the content, I can start formatting and designing your site using years of experience in web design & development.
This step involves adding your company or organisation identity to your website. A professionally designed base template that is modified to give your site a unique feel and characteristics is applied.
I will create a design that best represents your business using the latest technology and layout trends.
You can assist by supplying a list of liked sites and what you like about them.
I'll send you a link to the development site and give you a rundown on what I've done. You'll give me your thoughts and corrections and I'll make those changes while guiding you through any pitfalls that may occur with suggestions you make. (rinse & repeat)
All revisions are made and you're happy with my work. Now all that is needed is payment of the final part of the invoice.
As soon as the site goes live I'll do some final procedures that can only be implemented on a live site.
Websites are like cars, they need servicing to keep them running smoothly. Their look can go out of fashion after a while and they can be broken into by someone with the right tools and know-how.
After site completion, you will be supplied with documents or a virtual training session on how to manage your new website.
Here are some standard website editing functions you will be able to complete yourself:
- Editing site content
- Creating or removing menu items
- Maintaining testimonials or other components
If you don’t wish to manage and update your site then that is ok, for a small fee, I can do that for you.
However, if at any point you feel that you need a hand, please contact me to help out.
